Flames of War

Postby Primeus » Wed Dec 30, 2009 2:15 am

I have started this thread for the current players of the game and others like myself who are going too, or thinking about it.

Looking at the kit that is available i think i am going with the Germans. I like the idea of rewriting history and all that, plus they have Tiger tanks  . So 1 will have 1 tiger to the allies 7 tanks, about right.

this is one of those problem areas...all the scales of ww2...some of us have 6mm (WRG), some 15mm (Flames of war), some 20mm (Rapid Fire), and some have 25-28mm ( Rules of engagement)....or you could wait and see what the Warhammer historical WW2 rules are going to be like....(due out next year (2010) according to their latest newsletter)..like everything else it depends on who you want to play against and what they have...ask around and have a look at the rulebooks and have some testplays before jumping in with both feet...but what ever you do, enjoy the game..

Brian, we seem to have a lot of 15mm scenery suitable for a FOW (especially Northern Europe), obviously you would know best on this, are there any critical elements we are missing, bocage, bombed out buildings etc. Let me know if anything is needed and I'll see what I can do.

well historical...(from romans up to ECW) is WFB without the magic and superhero charecters(apart from the Spartan Toughness 4) WW2 from the stat sheet on armybuilder seems to be 40K.............Napoleonic....i wait with baited breath...

to be fair on that one I'm looking for something different from warhammer, it is not a bad rule set but is over complicated by the expansions\codices. This means you have to constantly learn and interpret new rule sets. FOW seems to be less inclined to this at the mo. There are updates these ar currently more fixes than rewrites
