It is 40k... reading A Thousand Sons and each Horus Heresy novel gets me wanting to start 40k again. (I did toy with doing a Rubricwing but the Forgeworld World Eaters won me over after a battle of wills with a Plaguewing list using the Death Guard ones and the Space Wolves list fits World Eaters the best!). On top of that Jack wants to start 40k and what sort of role-model would I be if I didn't build a 40k army to destroy his?! :D

Yeah, no worries on the list, I left early on Sunday, just pm it when you get a chance. Doesn't need to be massively in depth just so I have a rough idea of what you're taking and the names of your characters. Thanks :)

One of the guys on bols did a proxy space wolves army using beastmen conversions, calling them space goats.

Well the football and finishing reading A Thousand Sons have gotten in the way of my painting so this is a bit later than I had planned and not as far along either but here's a pic of the current state of the Warriors now they're back on their bases.

Image

Got quite a bit to do still. This is just the darkest metallic colour on the gold currently, got to highlight it up to the normal colour still. Once all the painting is done I'll be adding another snowfall to the bases! :)

Ah yes, Goat Boy's marines. They're actually quite cool :)

Working on something new for this army right now. Inspiration struck and all that. Hopefully it'll be mostly built for Sunday so I can try it out but it may be slightly counts as depending on how today goes. However so far the project has been boiled for half an hour, has snapped drill bits and is generally proving to be quite resilient to my plans!

My Warriors of Chaos haven't been forgotten I'd just been looking for something a bit different to get my teeth stuck into with them. So here's a very early mock-up of (a re-imagined) Zorion The Resplendent on Chaos Dragon.

Image

Image

Obviously, the dragon is still in need of wings. They'll be added on once I get my hands on them.
I've done a fair bit of work to the Carnosaur to get it into the pose I want and to make it a bit more dragon like. Firstly, I bent the tail of the model to a completely different angle, this was for the most part purely about the balance of the piece. Obviously balancing that much metal in the air leads to an element of inbalance so stretching the tail out allowed me to offset that a great deal. The tail was extremely hard work to shift so I kept boiling it and bending it until I got roughly the shape I wanted. I also bent the Carnosaurs left leg out to make the pose look more realistic as it climbs the rock ready to soar back into the sky in search of prey.

Image

That picture shows the difference in the Carnosaurs pose now. As you can see I've extended the neck to make it longer bodied and slightly more serpentine in shape. The head on the Carnosaur is actually from another Carnosaur but cut further down so that also helped to extend the neck so far. The milliput there at the minute is just to space, I'll be adding greenstuff on top to detail scales etc.

Zorion the Sorcerer Lord rider is still very early in his construction too. For the most part it's the mounted Slaanesh Lord mini but the helmet is from a Dark Elf but with the 'cone' filed down to make a flat top more like an Arthurian Knight style helm. I might add some decoration to the top yet and I'll be sculpting a gem to cover the hole in the helm. The Slaaneshi staff top is the icon from the Daemonettes sprues.
The rock on the base is made from air drying clay for the most part and some milliput under the left foot. Again, there'll be green stuff etc to tidy this up and detail it but for now I'm just getting the underlying shapes down. Imagine wings on him though and you'll have a very good idea where I'm trying to go with this.

Thanks guys. I'm guessing with all the other stuff I'm working on too this won't be massively speedy project but I'm quite happy to take my time on it and get it right.

Lol, yep, maybe that's what the problem was, all those magical energies leaking out of his head hole and he just completely lost control. What's worse is I was just casting that spell for something to cast that turn. The whole dragon strategy hinged on the next turn. I should have just held my horses. Such is life! Was a fun game, even if I did have to watch my army being dispatched left right and centre by your, clearly more up for the task, chaos army. Mine must have been too busy thinking of the after battle frivolities... that's what it was!
Thank though, glad you like him so far! :)

Hehe, I know. Imogen seems to have gotten back into a good routine. That bodes very poorly for my gaming results judging by yesterday! Dwarfs next week. They've always been a good tonic for me after a bad loss in the past so I can really test the sleep matter out then! :D

Poor neglected thread for a poor neglected army. Something's being done to fix that but sadly it's not painting them! I've decided I'm going to sell The Devotees on ebay. I fancy a change with 8th edition and space and time are at a minimum so they're going to bite the bullet. Time to annoy everyone again with the phrase 'Pro-Painted!' :D Will post links to the auctions later today or tomorrow.
